When both Apple and Google launched smartphones along with a cluster of square cameras, the phone market will create a new design trend, similar to the top missing screen.
Just a few days after leaking information about Pixel 4, Google officially confirmed it by a photo on Twitter. Surprisingly, the camera cluster of this device has many similarities to the series of the built sketch images of iPhone 2019.
Two years ago, Apple also created a wave of argument when applying the top missing screen design on the iPhone X. Although not being the first manufacturer launching this, the influence of the iPhone has made the phones industry (except Samsung) crazy for “rabbit ears.” May this repeat with a square camera?
Will the square camera come to the throne?
According to Mashable, when both “big guys” launched a square camera smartphone, the rest of the world will keep up. This is similar to the top missing screen trend 2 years ago.
Huawei introduced Mate 20 Pro in October 2018 with a square camera cluster on the back. It is the first time this design appears on a widely sold phone.
However, if compared to the built images of iPhone’s 2019 and Pixel 4, Huawei created a camera cluster looks much better.
Firstly, the Chinese manufacturer located the camera cluster in proportion to the edges on both sides of Mate 20 Pro. The raised part is very light, does not make the feeling like a “bump.” Inside, the 4 corners are arranged in balance with 3 lenses and a flash in similar size. The words “Leica” and the camera’s parameters are right above.
Meanwhile, the official photo of Pixel 4 published by Google and the built images of iPhone 2019 all showed a serious imbalance.
Pixel 4 has a square camera cluster set deflection towards the right side on the device. Inside, 2 lenses are on either side, the flash on the bottom and a sensor on the top. The edge of the camera cluster makes the feeling like it is raising quite a lot.
According to the leaked images, the successor version of iPhone XS and XS Max even has a worse camera cluster. It is still unsymmetrical but looking quite big. The layout of 3 lenses, flash, the sensor does not follow any design rules, also not create a balanced view in vertical or horizontal.
Samsung still creates the difference
If the square camera cluster of Apple and Google start the disaster trend in smartphone back design, Samsung could be the relief.
Back to the notch, when the whole mobile market has followed the top missing screen design, Samsung is still determined to stay out of the trend. Then, they thought out the perforated screen design to optimize the display screen and still keep the front camera.
Korean technology firm soon put many rear cameras for the phone. From the high-end product such as Galaxy S, Galaxy Note to the mid-range Galaxy A has 3, even 4 rear cameras. However, they put the camera with the flash and the sensor in a straight line (vertical or horizontal) in a rectangular frame with rounded corners soft.
In the leaked image a few days ago, the Galaxy Note 10 continued to maintain the camera cluster placed vertically and raised slightly, almost completely flat. This shows that history will repeat; Samsung still stays out from the trend of the strange square camera design coming soon on the smartphone market.
